Our Constitution

There are 23,000--33,000 Australians every year whose heart suddenly stops beating due to a cardiac arrhythmia. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) does not discriminate, it can occur to anyone without warning signs.

Two of the main causes of (SCA) are Genetic Disorders (Usually affects the under 30’s) and Cardiovascular Disease (Usually affects over 30’s). The common denominator regardless of the underlying problem is the need to urgently defibrillate someone in order to restart the heart and to give him or her the best chance of survival.

If Automatic defibrillators were more readily available at venues where large crowds congregate (such as sporting complexes) we may begin to reduce the number of preventable deaths.

The Australian Resuscitation Council support the concept of Public Access Defibrillator Programs. Research strongly suggests that public access defibrillators will in fact save lives, how many will depend on the number of defibrillators that are available.

Defib Your Club For Life was founded in memory of Stephen Buckman a 19yo Rupertswood footballer who died whilst training in May 2010. Our organisation, which is non-for profit, recognise the need to implement public access defibrillators across Victoria following a spate of similar collapses at other sporting venues. Persons affected have included; players, coaches, umpires and supporters.

Defib Your Club For Life aims to raise the awareness of this with the intent of saving lives.

Defib Your Club For Life is committed to providing automatic defibrillators that are designed to be used by a layperson.

DefibYour Club Fort Life aims to generate sponsorship that will assist with the implementation of a public access defibrillator program.

Defib Your Club For Life is committed to and will continue to lobby governments in order to gain funding that will assist the implementation of this vital program.

Defib Your Club For Life aims to assist clubs to coordinate fundraising activities to help generate funds for this cause. Defib Your Club For Life has secured a seven year fully comprehensive defibrillator program that has been tailored to suit clubs.

The concept is very simple. The solution is very simple. In order to reduce the number of sudden deaths at public venues we need a strong community based defibrillator program. This is our aim.

Yours sincerely
Andrew White.
